Is there anywhere its pure light does not shine?Mid-autumn 1756 Brushed by Houn-ji Dokucho
This is a very nice moon enso brushed in distinctive Obaku style; the brushwork is bold, free flowing, and elegant. Since the piece was done in mid-autumn, it is likely that the sight of the brilliant moon, at that time at its best, inspired Dokucho to compose this Zen verse. Dokucho is saying; "Every human being possesses Buddha-nature; all you need to do is look deep inside and perceive its luster!" Dokucho served as abbot of Houn-ji. Works by him are rare.
